Pilgrimage: The Old Way

The Old Way is the name of a medueval pilgrimage route. Running from Southampton to Canterbury it was a popular journey for pilgrims from the South Coast, South West, and for overseas pilgrims wishing to visit Canterbury.

The Old Way Pilgrim Route

The British Pilgrimage Trust researched The Old Way. They made use of the Gough Map (c1360) to pinpoint the route [image above is from the trusts work]. As a result of their work the route us being promoted once again. Details here.
